Assistant public defender suspended after anti-Israel Marxist newspapers found in PD waiting room

An assistant public defender has been placed on paid leave because he was thought to be the person responsible for placement of Marxist newspapers with anti-Israel content in the waiting room of the public defender’s courthouse office in New Britain, Connecticut.
Joshua D. Perldeiner, who works in the public defender’s office in New Britain, Connecticut, was suspended Friday, according to Richard N. Palmer, a retired Connecticut Supreme Court justice and chair of the Connecticut Division of Public Defender Services.

Perldeiner is on paid leave while on suspension, according to three of the publications. Some news coverage said the publication is printed on flyers, while others described it as a newspaper.
The publication is called the Red Clarion. Corporate records indicate that Perldeiner is the executive editor, according to the Hartford Courant.
A banner headline in the newspaper says, “From the River to the Sea!” which is a Hamas motto that is thought to call for the elimination of Israel, according to Fox 61. Another article headlined “Enemy of the People” refers to “Genocide Joe Biden.”
The Hartford Courant reached a woman who identified herself as Perldeiner’s wife. She said she and her husband are Jewish, and anti-Zionism does not amount to antisemitism.
